Softball anyone? The Lebanon Park Department hosts a Co-Ed Softball League over the summer and has invited us to join the league. Please contact Gretel in the office if you would like to be a part of this. Join the few who have already stepped up. Questions? Gretel can connect you with more information.

“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep.” (Psalm 4:8a) I can lay me down in peace . . . How does this help me if I am not sleeping but waking? If I end my day with the Lord, I can also start my day with Him because He never moves. If I can lay me down in peace and sleep, I can rise up in peace and walk/run/study/work/ play/pray: be. Wherever we go He goes with us. Whatever we do, He is there to help us. If we are doing something we don’t want His help with, we better stop doing it!

As we rise up today, seek to go forward in peace, and live out our day in peace, can we lay something down? Can we would lay our burdens down and let them sleep? Perhaps we can lay our fears down and let them sleep, or lay our anxieties down and let them sleep. If we lay these things at the Lord’s feet, He will in return give us peace. (Philippians 4:6,7) What burdens, fears, or anxieties do we need to lay down today? Help us, Lord, to lay them down. Help us today to set these to rest that we may know peace for our souls.

Sleep, Fear, you’re not needed here.

Sleep, Worry, no more hurry-scurry.

Sleep, Burdens, you’ve carried your share

And now it’s time to cease.

It is finished: your work is all done.

It is finished: time for something new.

It is finished: you must make room

For life, for health, for peace.

Awake, Courage, and take your stand.

Awake, Trust, and take the outstretched hand.

Awake, Peace, and share with grace

A gentle, quiet spirit to fill this space.

It has begun: we wait and see.

It has begun: a new day in which to be.

It has begun: and blessings overflow.

Lord, put to rest what must be at rest and awake what must be woken. Amen.

“Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” (Mark 16:3) Do you have a “stone” in your life, an obstacle you cannot move? Could you use a reminder of Who it is that can move that stone? There are “Who Prayer Cards” in a bucket on Gretel’s desk in the office. The cards are in the shape of a stone, each with the word “Who” on it. Please feel free to take one (or more!). You can take it home and write on it your own personal concerns, put it on your mirror or in your car - somewhere you will see it regularly - and use it as a reminder for Who to take those concerns to, Who has the power to address each and every care on your heart. You can also write a prayer request on the “Who Prayer Card”, stick it in the envelope on the back of the bucket, and the request will be covered in prayer.

Interested in joining the prayer chain? Contact Phyllis Duff at (765)482-1485/ raduff2@att.net. The following prayer is taken from the hymn “Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise”, #12 in the “Glory to God, Presbyterian Hymnal”.

Immortal, invisible, God only wise, in light in accessible hid from our eyes, most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.

Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light, nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might: thy justice, like mountains high soaring above; thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love.

To all, life thou givest, to both great and small. In all life thou livest, the true life of all. We blossom and flourish like leaves on the tree, then wither and perish; but naught changeth thee.

Thou reignest in glory; thou dwellest in light. Thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight. All praise we would render; O help us to see ‘tis only the splendor of light hideth thee! Amen.
