“. . . that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.” Romans 1:12
This is an important safety notice: When entering and exiting the building please be careful that you are not letting other people in. It may seem rude and uncomfortable to shut the door, but we must follow safety protocol. PPM Parents know they are not to let other parents in - they must each enter on their own, using their own key fob. Church members also need to enter on their own, and unless the person is in your party, you need to let them ring the bell and ask for assistance. Whether a PPM parent or grandparent, a visitor to the church, or someone needing help, please let the door shut and let them ring the bell and the PPM office or the church office personnel will assist them. If you ever have any question about an individual requesting entrance to the church, please speak with church personnel before allowing them entrance. The safety of the children, teachers, and staff in the building must be guarded at all costs. Thank you for your cooperation. If you have concerns or questions, please contact Gretel in the office.
Faith Circle meets today: Wednesday June 8th! 1:30-3 in the Church Library.
Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle
The cow jumped over the moon
The little dog laughed to see such fun
And the dish ran away with the spoon! What does this rhyme mean anyway? Well for our purposes, it may mean you need to bring some dishes home! FPC has dishes to spare. For the next few weeks, there will be a table showcasing FPC dishes set up in the lobby after the service. Rather than seeing the dish run away with the spoon to who knows where, we’d like to share them with you! Setting up house? Need to spruce up your table? Feeling sentimental? Know someone
who is in need of dishes? All these reasons and more may draw you to the table. Now, if you choose to share the dishes with the cow jumping over the moon or the cat playing the fiddle: 1) please tell me where you are meeting them because I’d like an autograph and 2) by all means, share away! Speaking of the nursery rhyme, I found these tidbits on it this week:
The nursery rhyme is believed to date back to the 1700s. There have been several speculations over the years as to the meaning behind the words. Some scholars of ancient history have found Egyptian themes in the rhyme. Other historians believe it’s possible there may be depictions in the rhyme of members of Henry VIII’s family and Tudor politics. One theory says the rhyme may be linked to an old English pub game, traditional dancing, and musical games. The simplest version of the story can be traced to Frank Baum, author of Wizard of Oz, who, in 1897, rewrote the nursery rhyme. He presented the story from a little boy’s perspective: the cat got stuck to a fiddle, the cow was jumping over the reflection of the moon in the water, the dog was running around barking with excitement, and the dish and spoon were the little boy’s supper dishes which he had lost.
Music: No Choir Rehearsal until after Labour Day.
Happy Riddle. See if you can solve this riddle: What do people enjoy seeing welcome them at the church doors on a Sunday morning, sharing kindness and sporting a smile?

“Happy Birthday to you! We celebrate with you! Please know that we love you, and God loves you too!” Alex Whipkey, 6/12; Bob Duff, 6/14
There are times in our lives when we are overwhelmed, anxious, burdened, burned-out, and nothing it seems we do helps . . . until we turn our hearts to the Lord and worship. Anywhere we choose to dwell on the Lord and His ways and worship Him becomes a sanctuary, whether inside or outside the church building. Prayer, hymns and praise songs, scripture, sitting in silence and listening for God’s direction are just a few of the ways we can worship Him. Psalm 95 encourages us: “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker.” (Ps95:6) Let us honour Him with our praise and find rest and joy for our souls in worship of our Lord: “Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee. Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty! God in three persons, blessed Trinity! Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee, casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea; cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee, who wert and art, and ever more shalt be. Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee, though the eye of sinfulness thy glory may not see, only thou art holy; there is none beside thee, perfect in power, in love and purity.” (Text by Reginald Heber, Music by John Bacchus Dykes, Hymn #1 in Glory to God Presbyterian Hymnal)
Interested in joining the prayer chain? Contact Phyllis Duff at (765)482-1485/ raduff2@att.net. The following prayer is taken from the lyrics of the anthem from Sunday, 6-5-22. Lyrics were written by: Paul Williams and set to music written by Joseph M. Martin.
Dear Heavenly Father, We have come this far by faith, gently carried in the arms of love. We have come this far with confidence, our hope in God alone. Though the road is long, in His strength we carry on. We have come this far by faith and faith will lead us home. A simple child-like faith, a tiny mustard seed, can change the world and move a mountain, calm the raging sea. Blessed are the ones who trust in Christ the Lord, who believe in His promises, who believe in His Word. May we trust in the Lord with such simple, child-like faith. Though it be but a mustard seed, may our faith move a mountain, change the world, and calm a raging sea. Such is possible if the faith we have is faith placed in Thee. Faith is a gift from You to us and for this we humbly and gratefully bow before You and thank You, O God. In Jesus’ name we pray and praise, Amen.
