Beautiful Library

Margi McConnaha and Lisa Hutcheson have been working since fall of last year to update the church library with new furnishings. They have done a remarkable job. Not only is it a beautiful, comfortable, and inviting space to be in, they also stayed within the budget presented to them by Session. Many thanks to them both, and anyone else who assisted who we have failed to mention!

Spring Missions Project

Last fall we partnered with a Christian based 501C-3 mission head quartered here in Lebanon called “The Malawi Project”. Dick and Suzi Stephens started this ministry and shared with us various ways The Malawi Project reaches out to people in Malawi. For example, remember seeing the mobility cart that they build mobility carts in Demotte, IN, which make it possible for people with disabilities to get around in Malawi. They also help build schools, wells, and more.

One of the missions  that is very dear to Suzi Stephens is the baby packs. Various churches and organizations donate to, pack and send  “baby packs” over to Malawi for women expecting babies.

The mission team here at FPC is putting together a new mission project called “Pack a Baby Pack”. There will be an event held on Saturday, April 27th at church in the fellowship hall, complete with a baby shower theme and refreshments of cake and punch. The ladies of the congregation are invited to come and help stuff the baby packs on April 27th.  Our goal is to stuff 24 bags. This will be a wonderful opportunity to enjoy fellowship while also doing important mission work for women in Malawi.

Each baby pack that is put together will contain items women in Malawi need to help them deliver their babies. Along with the baby packs the mothers are trained on how to deliver their baby. Many times the women need to walk several miles in order to get to the hospital. Often times they have their baby on the way. When they get to the hospital there are not enough supplies so with the baby packs the hospitals can safely help mother and baby.

There is a sign up list on the refreshment table in the back of the sanctuary on which people can sign up to donate specific items for the baby packs.  There is a box in the entry way marked Malawi Project Baby Packs. We will be collecting items through April 20.

The mission team has been working hard to coordinate this event, including gathering other necessary items for the packs. Also we can except monetary donations if you prefer. You can make your check out to FPC and put baby packs in the memo line. Thank you so much for your support for this mission and this beautiful opportunity.  We hope to see all of the women of the congregation at the event.
