Photo Contest Winners

Photo Contest voting ended last Sunday, and now we have winners. Neal Crouse and Hannah Lee got five stickers each and got the first place together. The winners will receive the prize during the coming Sunday worship service at the Park with Central Christian Church.

Worship in the Park

The Worship in the Park with the Central Christian Church at the Memorial park band stand is this coming Sunday (June 23rd). As announced before, the worship begins at 10 AM, not 10:30 AM. Pastor Je will preach and Rev. Nathan Kibler will preside the Communion.

  • We need a few volunteers for preparing the pitch-in tables and other chores, for reading liturgy during the service, for serving the Communion (ordained elders only), etc.

  • The Community Choir also needs singers who can sing well as well as who cannot sing well. The Community Choir practice is Thursday (tomorrow) 6:30 PM at Central Christian Church.

  • The pitch-in luncheon will follow after the worship service. Please bring some food to share with other people. The church will provide drinks.

  • In case of rain, the worship will be at the Central Christian Church.

  • But the weather forecast for now is that it will be very hot and sunny. Please bring enough water to keep yourself hydrated.

  • It is needless to say but bring your own lawn chair(s).

  • There will be an offering plate but there will be no regular offerings and tithes. All the offerings and monetary donations will directly go to the Shalom House. If you would like to make a regular offering or tithe, please wait for a week to do so at our regular Sunday morning worship service at our sanctuary.

  • We need two volunteers to serve the Communion. Because of the PCUSA rules, these volunteers have to be ordained elders (no need to be active in the session).

Today is Juneteenth

Today is Juneteenth and for those who may not be familiar with this holiday, here is the explanation from the Wikipedia:

Juneteenth, officially Juneteenth National Independence Day, is a federal holiday in the United States. It is celebrated annually on June 19th to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States. The holiday’s name is a portman-teau (that is blend word) of the words “June” and “nineteenth,” as it was on June 19, 1865, when Major General Gordon Granger ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas at the end of the American Civil War. Although this date commemorates enslaved people learning of their freedom under the Emancipation Proclamation, this only applied to former Confederate states. There remained legally enslaved people in states that never seceded from the Union. These people did not gain their freedom until the ratification of the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution on December 6th, 1865.

Saturday Bible Study

We are studying the Hebrews which has deep theology, mainly Christology. Come to learn and discuss the deep theology and the mystery in the book of Hebrews.

Want to Add Music to the Service?

Summertime and the livin' is easy… and music is needed! If you have ever wanted to play an instrument or sing (solo or as a group), now is your chance. The congregation is always appreciative of music so do not be afraid to add to worship with your song! Also, if you have a favourite hymn (even if it is not in our hymnal), please email or let Lisa Hutcheson know and if it is covered under our music license, and fits into the service, she will do her best to include them. Let us all make a joyful noise to Lord!

Coming Sunday Hymns

The Praise Band of Central Christian Church will sing many hymns and Christian songs. Prepare to enjoy all those good music. Here is a lovely song which pastor Je wants to share:
