PPM News
The cold weather has set in, the holidays are
over and we have over 6 weeks till spring. I am definitely feeling cabin
fever, as I am sure you are too. We purchased some new kid size shovels,
hoping to get the kids outside sometime soon. This month I am asking you to
pray for Miss Tina (PRE4) and Miss Jordyn (PRE3). Miss Tina has been at PPM for
19 years. Tina and her husband Steve have 3 (adult) children; Josh, Cathy
and JD and just welcomed their first granddaughter in November, Baby
Emmy. Miss Jordyn has 3 boys Lucas; 2nd grade, Nicholas; Kindergarten and
Marcus Pre 4 at PPM. Miss Jordyn is preparing for her upcoming wedding this
spring. I would also like to ask for prayers for Miss Michelle. Miss Michelle
returned to PPM last year and is an aide in Miss Tina's class. Miss Michelle
and her husband Andy have 2 (adult) children, Zach and Sara
both PPM grads! Michelle stays busy taking care of their beloved
pets and sometimes mine!
PPM is so blessed with amazing teachers, and these ladies are truly
remarkable in all they do every day.
Have a blessed week,
Miss Lori
Indiana Home and Garden Show
The Indiana Home and Garden Show is February 7th-9th
at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. We were sent a small amount
of free admission tickets. If you would like to attend, please stop by the
church office for tickets(while supplies last).
Saturday Bible Study
There will be NO Bible Study on Saturday January 18th
due to John Morton’s funeral.
BYOB
Don’t forget BYOB—Bring Your Own whatever B—on Friday,
January 17th in the church library, at 11:30AM. We postponed it last week due
to the weather.
Malawi Project Update from Jim Messenger
The Malawi Project just completed a fantastic year. We were blessed to
have so many donors, old and new, that contributed financially and/or with
physical donations of medical, educational, agricultural or religious material
like Bibles, Christian reference material and literature. 11 shipments were
sent this year including three 40 foot cargo containers from Lebanon - and we
have enough for two more 40 foot containers already in the warehouse while we
await warmer weather to do the loading.
Items that we would love to add to either of these shipments include:
BIBLES! Many Christians have numerous Bibles and
Christian literature in their homes. However, although most of us only use one
or two Bibles, it just doesn't quite feel right throwing them away. If they are
in decent shape, we would love to have them.
Walkers, canes, crutches and wheelchairs. They should be in working order and (please) clean. It’s not just
individuals that need these in Malawi. They are needed in their health care
facilities!
Sewing material and supplies. Very high demand for
these items. Please realize, their average daily income is 2 dollars per day.
Hand tools. Everyone has 2, 3, maybe 10 hammers at home. Pick
your favorite one or two and donate the others. All hand tools, (again, clean
and functional), are appreciated. We won’t ship power tools because only 14% of
the entire country has electricity, and only 4% of the villages are on the
grid.
In early December we had a church in Indianapolis donate $5000 to put a
well into a village, relieving the daily long walks with buckets to retrieve
water to cook, clean and consume.
California
Fires
The wildfires in California are not under control even
though the fire departments are doing their best risking even their lives. So
many people lost their homes, and even their lives. The Presbyterian Disaster
Assistance is actively helping the affected area and the people there. If you
would like to help, you may mark your offering envelope or cheque as
"PDA" or "California."
