Photo Contest

The flower photos of the Photo Contest is being displayed on the wall right outside of the sanctuary. Those flower photos are so beautiful and awe-inspiring. With the display, the voting also began. On the moveable cabinet/table on the other side of the sanctuary door, you will find dot stickers. You can vote on your favourite flower photo by putting one sticker on the photo of your choice. Everybody has one vote and this is an honour system. The last day of voting is Sunday, June 16th (Father’s Day) and you can vote anytime between now and the last voting day.

Happy Birthday to Church

P entecost is when the Holy Spirit descended upon all the believers who were gathered and waiting for the coming of the Holy Spirit. On the Pentecost with the arrival of the Holy Spirit, the Christian Church was born. To commemorate it, Samuel and Luna (with the help from Janet Landon) brought a birthday cake for the church, singing ‘Happy Birthday to Church.’

Church Is a Tax Exempt Organisation

This church is a tax exempt organisation and thus the church does not have to pay the sales taxes when purchasing items needed for church use. When you are shopping for church, please contact the church office first to make sure about the tax exemption. The church has tax free account at Amazon, Walmart, Kroger, Gillman and a few more. Let us save some dollars which belongs to God and which was donated and offered by our precious members. In this way, we can do more of God’s work in our community and congregation.

Farewell and Blessings to Bess Wilkes

We are deeply grateful for the time we have shared with Bess Wilkes, a cherished member of our church community. Bess has recently moved to Tomah, WI, to be near a dear friend of her. Her presence, her beautiful voice, her fresh baked communion bread, and her unwavering faith have been a blessing to us all. Bess played essential role in our church life, enriching our worship with her melodious singing and her warm spirit. While we will miss her dearly, we are comforted knowing she is beginning a new chapter surrounded by love and friendship. We send Bess our heartfelt blessings and prayers. May God’s grace and peace be with her always. Let us continue to hold her in our thoughts and prayers as she embarks on this new journey in a new town.

PPM’s June Session

From Monday, June 3rd, the Presbyterian Preschool Ministry begins the summer programme (June session) which will end on Friday, June 28th. Then PPM will have one week break before it resumes the July session.

Voice Actor Needed

Worship team tries many new things to improve the worship experience, and it we found that the dramatising the Scripture reading is successfully improving the worship experience. But for this, we need your help. Each Sunday morning, we recruit the voice actors. If you are interested in participating in this dramatising the Scripture reading, please let Neal Crouse know.

June Communions

The first Sunday of each month is designated as Communion Sunday unless the session decides otherwise. For the upcoming Communion on the first Sunday of June, Pastor Je has chosen to incorporate both traditional and non-traditional elements, allowing worshippers to choose which they prefer. Traditionally, we have used modern-style baked bread with either grape juice or cranberry juice. However, it is important to note that these elements differ from the ancient practices observed by the Jews in Jesus’ time, where ancient Jewish style bread and real wine were the norm.

While our modern elements may not match the ancient customs, the true essence of Communion lies not in the specific elements but in the presence of the Lord. Jesus promised His disciples, and thus promises us, that He will always be with us. The Communion elements serve as a reminder of this profound truth—the presence of the Lord is with us wherever we may be.

To emphasise this truth, Pastor Je will include some non-traditional elements in the Communion. Worshippers are welcome to choose between the traditional and non-traditional options, both of which symbolise the same spiritual reality which both are non-traditional in the eyes of the ancient Jews.

Additionally, there will be another Communion in June during the Worship at the Park with Central Christian Church, where only traditional elements will be served. Since Pastor Je will be away in July including our regular Communion Sunday, this second June Communion will serve as the July Communion, resulting in no Communion service on the first Sunday of July.

Children Care Takers Needed

Janet Landon is mostly taking care of the children during the Sunday morning worship services. But she is not always available as well as she also needs to worship. If you are available and willing to take care of the children during the Sunday worship services, please talk to Debbie Crouse, who can coordinate your volunteer schedules.

Korean War Anniversary

Before the daybreak on Sunday, June 25th, seventy-four years ago, the Korean War broke out by North Korea’s surprise attack, backed by USSR and its leader Joseph Stalin. We remember the courageous men and women who served in the Korean War. We honour the veterans (healthy and alive, wounded, or deceased) who displayed remarkable bravery and unwavering dedication in the face of tremendous adversity.

Their sacrifices, made far from home, were acts of pro-found commitment to the principles of freedom and peace. These veterans not only fought for the safety and sovereignty of South Korea but also stood as beacons of hope and resilience for the entire world.

In our church community, we are deeply grateful for the service and sacrifices of these heroic individuals. Their legacy continues to inspire us, reminding us of the values of courage, selflessness, and enduring faith. We offer our heartfelt thanks and prayers for all Korean War veterans, acknowledging their invaluable contribution to our shared history. May we never forget their service, and may their stories of heroism continue to guide and strengthen us.

To express the gratefulness, pastor Je (who is native of South Korea) is inviting Korean War veterans and the families to the Korean lunch on Wednesday, June 12th.

Father’s Day

Fathers Day is often regarded as less important than Mother’s day. But male parents are also parents. On Father’s Day, we bless and pray that all Fathers may stand upright to be the role models for their children, embodying the love of our Father in heaven.

Visiting Team

If you’d like to help pastor Je visiting our home-bound members and friends, you may sign your name up on the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board outside the church office.

Worship Team Meeting

Worship Team meets on the last Friday, which is usually fourth Friday. May 2024 has five Fridays, and the worship team will meet on Friday, May 24th, 5:30 P.M. at the church library. Worship team meeting is not a closed meeting. All the members are welcome to come and speak out their opinions and ideas to improve the worship experience.
