John Quinn Update

John Quinn will be at Witham Rehab recovering from a fall and surgery to repair a broken hip. The family would appreciate your prayers for his recovery.

 One Great Hour of Sharing

This Sunday we will conclude the collection of “One Great Hour of Sharing” for feeding the hungry, assisting the afflicted in areas of disaster, and promoting developments. To contribute, mark your cheque or offering envelope with “PCUSA,” “Special Offering,” or “One Great Hour of Sharing.”

Custodian

FPC has accepted the resignation of Ruth Deem, the part time Custodian. We appreciate her time with us and wish her well at her new opportunities.

That being said, we have an opening to fill for a part time custodian. The position is anywhere from 10-24 hours per week depending on their preference to clean for PPM as well or just clean for the church. The pay begins between $15 & $17/hour depending on experience.

We will not consider hiring anyone in the church family or close to anyone in the church to avoid sticky situations that may arise in the normal course of employment.

If you have anyone interested who isn't close to the church, please either email us or write it down and hand it to us. Do not just tell us about them at church as we'll need their contact information.

Thank you in advance from your Personnel Committee:

PPM News

PPM is back from Spring Break. We have caterpillars becoming butterflies, flowers growing, spring is definitely all around us. This week classes are celebrating Easter with fun crafts and activities.

This Friday, I am excited to share with the kids the reason we celebrate Easter. For some kids this is the first they will hear this story of God's sacrifice for us. We will begin with the Palm Sunday story and finish with Jesus dying on the cross. We will wave palm branches and sing Hosanna Glory to the King. This is always my favorite story to share every year. Teaching these precious little ones that Jesus died for each one of them. As an adult that is sometimes hard to wrap my head around. Why Am I That Special? Am I Worthy? Can you imagine the kids who are hearing this for the first time? Then go home and tell their parents that God  loves us that much to sacrifice his only son?  What a blessing to know that we are so Loved.

Easter Blessing to all of you.

Malawi Baby Pack Project

This Sunday is the last chance to donate to the Malawi baby packs. There is a sign-up sheet on the reception table in the foyer with the items we need to fill the packs. Please sign up to donate something, On Saturday April 26 we will stuff the baby packs and have refreshments. There is also a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board if you plan on coming to help stuff bags. For more information please watch this video https://youtu.be/cdi0PDt79wA.

If you are spring cleaning, here’s some additional ideas to help the people of Malawi through the Malawi Project.

·        They can use old sheets, pillowcases and towels, even if they are ripped, they use them as rags in the hospital.

·        Old candles, any kind would help give them an easy source of light.

·        Sewing needles, thread, snaps etc.

Leftover Bibles

Do you have more Bibles than you no longer need or read? If they are in fair condition, you may want to donate them to our Christian brothers and sisters in Malawi. The unopened Bibles which are just sitting on the shelves can be treasures and divine words to them. If you would like to bring your Bibles to church, we will send them to Malawi with the Baby Packs. This Sunday is the last day to bring your bibles in.

2 Liter Bottle Collection

Janet McConnell is collecting 2 liter bottles for a project she is doing May 5th, at the Children’s Home. If you have some she could use for this, she will gladly pick them up or you can leave them at the church for her. Also, bottle caps are not needed.
