If you would like to drive yourself, then come to the restaurant by 12:10PM.

PPM

PPM ended the summer on July 31st and as August came, we were in a rush to get things reset and ready for the first day of school. Multiple PPM board members came to help mulch the playground, move classrooms, and help clean and sanitize the toys and rooms. Our staff really appreciated the time they gave to help.

We started the year with a Meet the Teacher on Sunday, August 10th and were ready for the next day to open the doors to 85 children, some returning and quite a few new families. We have at least 2 children this year that a parent attended many years ago, when it was just Mother's Day Out. That is a true testament to the longevity of this program and commitment to our families and community.

We are off to a great start to the year, currently we have about 15 full time staff members and 2 part time staff members.

I am excited for the new year, and learning experiences we will be able to provide for these amazing children.

Have a blessed week,

Lori Rowe

Organ Concert

First Presbyterian Church will have an Organ Concert to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the installation of the church’s pipe organ. Please join us to enjoy the musical talents of Bud Hunter and others. The concert is Sunday, September 28th beginning at 2:00pm with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall. This event is open to the community so please spread the word!

Bible Study

Come to our Saturday Bible Study on Genesis, even if you are a first timer or just as a one-time visit.

Watch this video for a dramatization of what we have covered the past couple of months: https://youtu.be/YS8RtpT3ms0

Saturdays at 11:30 until around 1:30 or so. Bring your own lunch as the first hour is eating and fellowship, then on to the Bible Study.

Quarterly Communal Luncheon & Guest Speaker

The guest speaker for our next communal luncheon on August 24th is Watson George.  He has an amazing story to tell and will also share his music with us that day.

Just to let you know a bit about Watson, he was born in Haiti, spent his early life as an orphan and at the age of 4 was rescued by a missionary along with his youngest sister and placed into an orphanage for two years.  The siblings were later adopted by an American family.  Years later in 2012, Watson lead a mission trip back to his native country and reunited with his biological family.  Moved by the poverty and suffering he witnessed in Haiti, Watson was determined to make a difference.  With a passion to serve others he returned to the U.S. and initiated a project to raise over $25,000 for the earthquake victims.  He continues to spread positivity and humanitarianism with “Beyond Me Haiti” his music initiative.

Watson was recommended to us by Janet McConnell, his music is inspirational, has no offensive language yet it is the hip hop style enjoyed by the youth of today.

Neal has connected with Watson regarding our sound system and how his music will be presented to us that day.

Curious? It sounds like we’ll be asked to move out of our “reserved comfort zone” as we learn more about Watson, his music and story that day.  After worship we will move to fellowship hall and enjoy our communal luncheon and more time to talk with Watson, his wife and daughter.  This luncheon will be a pitch in style with fried chicken provided by the church.

Do you have something you wish to share with the church family? Sharing good news will double it. Sharing sad news will halve it. Is your child or grandchild excellent? You can boast about them. Contact the church office if you want your story in the weekly Midweek or monthly Newsletter.
