Guest Preachers

While pastor Je was on vacation for the four Sundays in July, visiting his mother with dementia in South Korea, we had guest preachers. For the first three weeks, Ben Piper preached with the very dramatic effect of lightning and thunder at the end of his sermon. Rev. Dr. Stuart Robertson preached on the last Sunday of July. He preached 39 years ago at our church as we provided the neutral pulpit. He also wrote a few books; you may search for his name on Amazon if you are interested in his books.

Gourmet Seekers

Due to pastor Je’s absence, the Gourmet Seekers did not meet in July. This month, we will meet and eat at a Chinese buffet, The Journey (7155 E 96th St, Indianapolis, IN 46250) on Friday, August 22nd. It is about 30 miles driving distance from the church and the rideshare is highly recommended due to its long distance. Please come to church by 11:30AM for the rideshare. If you would like to drive yourself, then come to the restaurant by 12:10PM. Just to make it clear, it is much better than the Buffet King in Lebanon. Please know the nature of a buffet restaurant is that you need to serve yourself.

Pastor Je Is Back

 

Pastor Je and his family came back to Lebanon after spending about 3 weeks in Korea, visiting his 93 years old mother with dementia. Earlier this year, she had a bad stroke, and the doctor informed the family that she would not survive more than 3 months. But she regained her strength and is very healthy. But her dementia has progressed a lot over the last year. Last year, she recognized her grandson Samuel the whole time and pastor Je about a third. This year, she recognized Samuel about half time and pastor Je probably not at all (or maybe once).

Beside seeing her every day, pastor Je and his family explored much of Seoul, eating yummy Korean foods, climbing mountains, playing at various parks, etc.

Ice Cream Social

Are you hot? Are you sweating? We will cool you down with the ice cream social on Sunday, August 10th at the narthex and the courtyard right after the worship service. Please come and bring your family and friends.

PPM

What a fun and exciting summer we had a PPM. As we end our summer, we are saying goodbye to friends going off to kindergarten and welcoming new friends that will join us this fall. 

Our teachers will be hard at work next week getting ready for the new year and hopefully getting a little break. 

July was full of fun baking activities, water play celebrating the end of the summer with a fun walk to the park for some play time and a picnic. I want to personally say thank you to all the staff that worked this summer; Miss Tina, Miss Brandy, Miss Suzy, Miss Michelle, Miss Jordyn, Miss Ashton, Miss Kelly, Miss Emileigh, Miss Lily and special thanks to Miss Elizabeth for helping out in the afternoons, and Miss Lesley who helped in the kitchen one day!

PPM will host a Meet the Teacher event on August 10^th from 3pm-4pm followed by an ice cream social. Our first day of school is August 11th. Please pray for all the teachers and children as we begin another amazing and blessed year at PPM.

Bible Study Resumes

There was no weekly Bible Study in July due to pastor Je’s absence. Now that he’s back, it will resume to the same location and time: Saturdays 11:30AM at the church library. The discussion on Genesis is not only knowledgeable and informative, but also very interesting and intriguing. Please come and learn the Word of our Lord!

Quarterly Communal Luncheon

 

We love to eat. But precisely we love to eat together. That is why we do the quarterly luncheon. This quarter’s luncheon will be on the last Sunday of August, the 24^th in the fellowship hall right after the worship service. The mission guest speaker on this Quarterly Communal Luncheon will be Watson George from Haiti by the recommendation of Janet McConnell.
