Gourmet Seekers

Gourmet Seekers will meet this coming Friday at a new pancake house in town, Gold Coffee Pancake House. It is next to El Meson near Culver’s and Walmart. Since it is fairly close with plenty of parking spaces, rideshare is not necessary. We will meet at the restaurant at noon.

Kelley Gibbs-Budd Celebration of Life

I wanted to send a quick reminder that we are just 5 days away from Kelley’s memorial and celebration of life. Details below. We are expecting a fairly large crowd as Kelley was loved by so many. Please be sensitive to the family and make your condolences meaningful but quick. Also, please don’t feel as if you need to stay for the full time as we are limited on space. All are welcome but just trying to be realistic regarding logistics for the day. Family and a few select friends have been asked to speak and we will likely begin those around 2:30-3pm. Thank you all for sharing your love, sympathy and support as we navigate this difficult time.

Details:

Harmony Club-1414 W 151st, Westfield IN.

Time- 2pm-5pm ET

Attire- funeral attire is not expected or needed. My sister hated “funeral wear.” Please feel free to come tastefully casual and comfortable.

Questions: email Matt Gibbs: mgibbs1975@aol.com (yes I still have AOL!)

Flowers- please do not send flowers to the Club House and we are asking for donations in Kelley’s name to The Gibbs Family Foundation. Where Kelley served for 10 years on the Board.

Hugs to you all if we don’t get to personally see each and every one of you.

Respectfully,

Matt and the Gibbs-Budd families

We are counting the days till fall break! This past week in staff we read a book titled Room on the Broom. The story follows a witch and her cat whose broom becomes crowded as they pick up helpful animals in search of her bow and wand. When a hungry dragon threatens the witch, the animals work together to scare it away, leading the witch to create a new larger broom for all of her friends. I reference; Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls. We talked about the themes of the book, kindness, friendship, and teamwork. This is a great book and many learning lessons not only for the kids but for us as adults as well.

Our classes are full of excitement for the season. The classes are taking walks every day and enjoying this amazing weather, gathering leaves and looking for signs of the season. One class is even looking for spider webs! We have a pumpkin upstairs that we have been watching decompose for the entire month. We do this experiment every year and for the first time ever it's actually sprouting. The kids are seeing first-hand how a pumpkin grows. Friday that pumpkin will be out outside in our garden and we hope when spring comes, we will see a new sprout grow.

PPM is on fall break next week. When we return we will celebrate the fun holiday with a Book Character Dress up day and fun seasonal activities in our classrooms. Have a blessed week.

If anyone is interested in sharing their musical talents on Sundays please email Lisa or see her at church.  This can be vocal or instrumental, individuals or groups, and music for the prelude, postlude, or special music during the service for the glory of God. You don't have to be Liberace or Pavarotti, just someone who is willing to praise God through music!

Don’t you love hearing the dramatized Scripture Readings during the Sunday Worship Services? You can join the bliss of being part of it. Please let Jennie know if you would like to volunteer.

Do you have something you wish to share with the church family? Sharing good news will double it. Sharing sad news will halve it. Is your child or grandchild excellent? You can boast about them. Contact the church office if you want your story in the weekly Midweek or monthly Newsletter.
